Central Heating Grants and Universal Credit since the Coronavirus outbreak.

More than one million householders have applied for Universal Credit after seeing a drop in income caused by the lockdown due to Coronavirus.

Every householder* who receives Universal Credit, or one of the other qualifying benefits whose home has NEVER had a central heating system fitted before, can apply for a Central Heating Grant to install mains gas or LPG central heating.

If your home has never had a central heating system installed before, recipients of Universal Credit can apply for a First Time Central Heating Grant to help install central heating.

*Central Heating Grants are available to both home owners and tenants who rent their home from a private landlord.

Central Heating Grants and Universal Credit – Do YOU Qualify?

Central Heating Grants - Qualifying Criteria

  1. You must be a home owner OR you rent your home from a private landlord…..AND
  2. Your home must NEVER have had a central heating system fitted before…..AND
  3. Your home must have an existing mains gas connection, even if it is capped off.
  4. You must receive at least one of the following State Benefits, Tax Credits or Other Allowances:
  • Pension Credit – Guarantee Credit
  • Pension Credit – Savings Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income-Based Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income Support
  • Child Benefit (subject to maximum household income thresholds)
  • Housing Benefit

OR You qualify under ECO Flex rules.
